ANKI DRIVE is no longer actively supported - please read our End-Of-Life article for more information.
IMPORTANT: if you are having problems or questions charging your Anki OVERDRIVE vehicles please consult the following article for help: Anki OVERDRIVE - Supercars or Supertrucks with short battery life
When new, Anki DRIVE cars should have a maximum of 20 minutes of play time after a full charge using the supplied charging cradle, cable, and wall charger.
The duration of an Anki DRIVE car battery depends on driving style, how long it was charged, and how old the car is. Similar to real battery-powered cars driving at higher speed - or faster acceleration - will result in shorter battery duration.
It is not unusual that individual Anki DRIVE cars may vary in battery duration if they have been upgraded to reach a higher top speed or faster acceleration.
Similar to all rechargeable batteries, it is also normal for the cars to have shorter battery life after extended usage but if you notice significant differences between your cars you can follow below steps:
From a completely discharged or dead state, it can take between 8-11 minutes to fully charge the battery. A full charge will provide up to 20 minutes of game play (about 3-5 games).
The vehicle battery has 2 charging modes.
Fast charging. When the vehicles are first placed in the charging case multiple lights on top of the vehicle will be on and pulsing. This charging mode can last 7-8 minutes.
Trickle charging. After the fast charging mode is complete, the light on top of the vehicle will turn solid green and the trickle or slow charging will start. This mode can take another 1-3 minutes.
Note: It is not recommended to use a usb cable to connect to a computer or other non-Anki power adapter to charge Anki DRIVE vehicle. Use only the Fast Charger kit (power adapter + 3-port power cable) that comes in the Starter Kit.
