1) How do Anki OVERDRIVE supercars work?
Supercars use sensors and an infrared camera to sense their position on the track, maneuver precisely and fire weapons in the different game modes. Their smarts are in the Anki OVERDRIVE app which you download to your compatible phone or tablet, to then connect to and control your cars via WiFi.
2) Why do I need a player account?
The Anki OVERDRIVE and Anki OVERDRIVE Fast & Furious app each ask you to create a player account. An account allows you to log in from different devices and maintain your game progress even if you delete the app or get a new mobile device. You can delete your account anytime. Please find more information in this article.
3) Android - why do the Anki OVERDRIVE / FAST & FURIOUS apps request certain permissions from my Android device’s operating system?
Android Device Location: Android requires this permission from apps like ours that access WiFi information, because that WiFi information could expose identifiers that could be used for location identification purpose. Anki does not access, collect or store any data associated with this permission request.
Storage and Media Files: The app is split into a small APK (app) and a large data file (OBB) containing game data / assets. When the app is first launched after a new update, the large data file is downloaded to this external storage media and kept there. The "external storage media" on most modern Android phones is actually just internal flash storage.
Android Phone Status / Device ID and call information: The app uses this permission to generate a unique anonymous device identifier.
